High Speed Camera (Golf Swing Analysis)

Asthe golf market rapidly grew as a national sport, many golf practice and auxiliary devices were released. In particular, a swing analyzer and launch monitor are being established as essential items for many golf lovers. Since the golf swing is made at a very fast moment, image acquisition through high-speed camera of hundreds frames is essential to obtain accurate results, but it is not easy to implement with general sensors and devices. In this paper, using EFINIX's Ti90 and a image processing ISP (DCOD's EN781F), we propose a high-efficiency, high-speed golf swing analysis camera that secures both performance and economy efficiency.
①When a golf ball is hit, event information from the corresponding sensor is input to EFINIX Ti60 and EN781F.
②Ti90 transmits a trigger signal to CMOS without delay, and EN781F controls the LED light source to acquire an optimal image.
③About 1.5Gbps/lane of LVDS (or MIPI) data from two CMOS is input to Ti90.
④Video data is stored in the external memory in real time through the DDR controller of Ti90.
⑤The saved swing image is read out from memory and transmitted to EN781F.
⑥EN781F optimizes the image and transmits it through HDMI, HD-SDI, USB, etc. This system can double the frame rate by adjusting the phase of the trigger input to CMOS by 180 degrees, or expand the application category to a stereo camera that acquires a high-speed 3d disparity map. In addition, further performance improvement can be expected if DDR controller and I/O are expanded by using an advanced FPGA family. In the case of ready-made ASIC products, they have advantage compared to FPGAs or general-purpose SoC products in terms of power, efficiency, and price, but their lack of systemic flexibility is disadvantageous in responding quickly to market changes. Combining and using EFINIX's FPGAs and ready-made ASIC products can be an example of overcoming problems such as heat, power, and price, which are pointed out as weaknesses in existing products.
